My Brain is Already there...

So....
To begin, welcome to my first blog. It's funny, my sister has told me to write a blog since freshman year, little did I know the reason I would start one is because I would be going to another country. How exciting! I appreciate you for coming to thepassenger'sseat. :-) The name and more about me will be explained in a further blog. But for now, I just want to share what's goin' through my head.
I'M GOING TO BE AN EXCHANGE STUDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My feet might be in America but I am definitely not here anymore. My heart has been given to travel. All my life, I have had a deep passion to learn other languages and this is the beginning of that dream. Do you know what it's like to not be able to talk to your best friend's family because they speak a different language? Do you know what it's like to not be able to speak to your own relatives who speak another language? I do, and it's all too close to my heart.
And that is why I have chosen to do the exchange. My heart is so ready to connect with these other cultures. The spanish culture in which my friends are all a part of, and the Israeli culture in which my long lost (but now found) family lives. I think some people might think it is rather frivolous to want to travel and learn other languages. They might even say that I'm doing it because I don't know what to do with my life. But truly, I am doing this because it has everything to do with what I want to do with my life. And if you know anything about me, you know that choosing one individual thing to go after isn't an easy thing for me;-)
I don't know if I will get homesick, I don't know if I will like my host family, I don't know if I will like the food, but what I do know is that I have this passion, and it is so strong that none of that other stuff matters. It is yet another opportunity in my life where I have felt God is just telling me to follow Him, and He will do the rest. He gave me the first step and now it's time for me to take it.
If you are wondering the logistics of it all, there isn't much known yet:-0 lol I do know that I'm going to Peru, which was my first country of choice, and I couldn't be more thankful for that. Rotary really does look out for you and your interest, or at least my Rotary district does;-) I was told I'll probably be leaving sometime in July. I will be gone for one year and I can already tell that that won't be enough time but, like I said, I'm thankful.
It would be ridiculous for me to say that I'm unsure of this decision to go to another country. When you can't fall asleep because you can't stop reading travel books, and when you do fall asleep you dream about that country, when you desire to speak another language more than your own, when you care more about what you will learn than what you will miss... that is where I am at. There really is no option.
I may be in America, but my brain is already in Peru.
